SHIRTLESS FIREFIGHTERS TO SIGN CALENDARS AT DEANO’S PUB MAY 2 TO BENEFIT PROTECT SANTEE BALLOT MEASURE

MAY 1, 2024 (Santee) --“There’s not much we won’t do to protect our family, friends, and neighbors in Santee,” Santee firefighters say in a social media post promoting the launch of a new calendar to support the Protect Santee ballot measure.

People who like shirtless firefighters are invited to join the calendar launch party at Deano’s Pub East in Santee (11541 Woodside Ave., Suite D) on Thursday, May 2 from 6 – 9 p.m.. In addition to some good food and cold beer, attendees can get a calendar and an autograph from Santee’s homegrown hotshots.

But there’s a catch.

As the last days of the Protect Santee signature gathering come to a close, Santee residents will be asked if they can put their autographs on a petition of their own.

4th ANNUAL BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT HONORS LIFE OF 13-YEAR-OLD KILLED IN TRAGIC CAR ACCIDENT

 

April 24, 2024 (Lemon Grove) -- The Lemon Grove Recreation Center will be hosting the 4th annual 3-on-3 Trevon Harris basketball tournament on June 8, 2024, from 8:00 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 3131 School Lane. Basketballers must be ages 10 to 16 to participate in the tournament. 

There is no entry fee and players may register onsite at the event beginning at 8:15 a.m.  The tournament will begin at 9 a.m. with tip-off. This is a free event that will bode a March Madness bracket style basketball competition, free music/entertainment, and free food.

April 4, 2024 (Jamul) -- Celebrate Springtime by visiting the alpacas. Open Ranch at Hazard Alpacas is Saturday and Sunday April 13 and 14 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 20781 Deerhorn Valley Road in Jamul, CA 91935.
 
Alpacas resemble llamas, but they are smaller in size. Alpacas were domesticated by the Andean people around 6,000 years ago. These animals served various purposes for their human companions, including providing wool, food, and fuel. Alpacas are part of a group called ungulates, which includes other hooved mammals like sheep and giraffes.

March 29, 2024 (Lemon Grove) -- Living in community is humankind’s primary means of survival. Our happiness, our well-being, and our purpose are all sustained by people working together in meaningful sympathy. Long-time San Diego County resident, Mrs. Charlene Waddell, knows from experience the importance of a healthy community, both in our general well-being and in the spirit of sacrifice. In 2006, she was diagnosed with Stage 4 Colon Cancer. Her recovery required multiple surgeries that took parts of her colon, her liver, and her entire appendix. She required a lot of blood to survive. Thanks to the San Diego Blood Bank, which is there to help everyone in need of blood, Charlene got the precious blood she needed, and has made a welcome recovery.

EASTER BRUNCH AND EGG HUNT MARCH 30 IN EL CAJON

March 23, 2024 (El Cajon) – The German American Societies invites you to an Easter brunch followed by an egg hunt with hundreds of colorful eggs for children to find. This event will be held at the group’s headquarters at 1017 S. Mollison Ave. in El Cajon on Saturday, March 30 2024.
 
Brunch will be served from 9 to 11 a.m., with the egg hunt from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.

March 21, 2024 (San Diego) -- On Thursday, April 4, from 6 to 8 p.m., the nonprofit Mission Trails Regional Park (MTRP) Foundation will welcome a range of park user groups for a free community night at the park. The event will include user group tables, games, light refreshments, and opportunities to learn how members of the public can experience Mission Trails in new ways. Entry is free and open to the public, and attendees will have the opportunity to win Mission Trails merchandise. While the event is free, registration is required through the Mission Trails website: www.mtrp.org
